Behind The Art

Jody Hope Gibbons  |  Matakana, New Zealand

Welcome. I'm a contemporary New Zealand painter with works held in many private collections both here and throughout the world.

I was born Jody Gibbons and grew up in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Once turning my focus to producing art, I took up my family name of Hope Gibbons as my signature to honour the passing of my father, someone who's stoic belief in me has always given me strength.

I’ve always been driven to expand my knowledge base, whether it be exploring new techniques or studying more classical references. I’ve completed several Mastery Contemporary Painting courses out of Auckland, and have been privately tutored by some of New Zealand’s most renown teachers. I was published in New Zealand’s Favourite Artists Volume 2, which was a huge compliment. Knowing and seeing how much enjoyment my work brings to people is something I am

grateful for and cherish. My work has also featured in lifestyle publications such as NZ Life and Leisure and NZ House and Garden.
